Hello and bonjour, fellow Class of '76 members:

As you have all noticed, the 25th anniversary of our grad is fast approaching.  As is the custom, we want to get as many of our buds to RMC this Sept.  The reunion is planned for 27-30 Sep 2001.

This e-mail is to serve as a heads up to get ourselves organised.  Some excellent work has already been done by a few people, and we want to build on their work to semi-organise ourselves (I say semi-organise, because some might have sworn off the military precision that was beaten into us...but I'm sure you'll all admit we have to have SOME organisation).

The first thing I want to announce is that Chuck (Charles, Charley, Carlos) Oliviero has agreed to be the overall coordinator.  Our concept is simple.  We'd like to keep events to just a few like the fol:  A Class function (maybe meet and greet) on the Friday night; piggy-back on the College activities on the Saturday; sit as a class (more or less together, maybe at separate tables) for the dinner on the Sat evening; and then take part in the parade on Sunday.

This year marks the 125th anniversary of the College, so there are some special activities, in which we will play a role as a class.

First priority for our class to get organised is to establish communications links.  We think the internet is the best and easiest means of passing info.  The concept includes trying to identify one coordinator for each major location where there are ex-cadets from our class.  This way, that coordinator can pass on the info to the buds in his area, and Chuck does not have to do all the communications.  Kind of like a fan-out list...

Our main contact at the College is André Langlois, who is the Deputy Director of Cadets.  He'll have his hands full organising the whole 125th, but will be of valuable assistance to Chuck for inserting our activities into the overall plan and passing info.  André Corriveau est aussi au Collège et pourra nous aider s'il le veut.

The last piece of the puzzle is our attempt to provide a gift to the College as a class.  Chuck will announce who will take charge of that facet and what the plan is, but there again, some thinking and work has already been done.

So, to conclude this lengthy e-mail, here is what I ask of each one of you:

    a.   Confirm reception of this e-mail by responding to Chuck and I, and advising of your geographic location.  Let us know if you are a volunteer to be coordinator of your area.  As an aside, Rafael Beltempo has agreed to be the Ottawa Coordinator.

    b.   Power up on the internet and visit the Class site which has been put together by Rocky McManus (great piece of work).  It is at: http://www.jmcmanus.com/rmc76.htm

    c.   Update your e-mail address and anybody else's you know on the class list which is on the site.

    d.   Get ready for a party by reserving a room in Kingston.  Some work has already been done to reserve the Day's Inn.  See the website.

    e.   Pass on the info to any buds you know - some of whom might not have discovered the internet yet...
That's it!  Hope we can all meet wearing those lame "Hello, I am Dorkhead" nametags in September...

See you then, and TDV.
